    In this class, students will each bring squares of an ugly (or hard to use) fabric to share. They will also bring a variety of scraps. We will construct a simple scrap quilt while learning how to make any fabric great, depending on what you put with it. A really fun day!!! Many say this is the best class they ever had.

Each quarter of the quilt takes about a day to assemble. The appliqué and final assembly take about two days more and you have a really special quilt top!

       Description:
    YES, it is possible to quilt without a frame or a hoop! And wonderful results can be obtained, often with smaller stitches by using my quilting method. The class will include preparing the quilt for quilting, discussion of battings, demonstrations, and hands-on experience. This particular method is much less stressful on joints and allows more comfortable sitting positions. The class is suitable for beginners as well as for hand quilters who would like to learn a new way to quilt.

       Description:
    There are hundreds of quilt layouts in the Layout Library in EQ6. Let's explore how to use them! This class will cover how to take your selected blocks and set them into quilts of predetermined sizes, of special layouts, and of your customized grid layouts. You will learn to use Layer 2 for setting appliqué overlays on the quilt and Layer 3 for setting quilting stencils. You will also learn to use the Auto Borders feature in EQ6.

    This class is about learning to think about and use large scale prints in new ways. We’ll be pushing ourselves to “unlearn” what we know about contrast and learn to choose fabrics that will work hard for us to make simple pieced designs look gloriously complex. Inspiration is taken from quilts of the early 1800s.
    TEXT: Blended Quilts by Marsha McCloskey and Sharon Yenter or Blended Quilts II by Marsha McCloskey (In the Beginning). (Some copies will be available in class for $29.95. It is not necessary to have the book to complete the workshop.)

       Description:
    Learn to draft, rotary cut and machine piece this wonderful 15” Radiant Star Feathered Star block. Make it in red and green, if you like, and use it as a holiday banner, in a table runner or quilt. We will use the bias-strip piecing method to piece the small triangles.
    TEXTS: Feathered Star Quilt Blocks I and Quick Classic Quilts by Marsha McCloskey. (Some copies will be available in class. It is not necessary to have the books to complete the workshop.)
