You will need to bring your scissors and basic sewing kit. Six sewing machines will be needed. We will have refreshments provided by Hospitality.
All AAQG members are invited to attend.
Time to rest up after the Quilt Show!
All AAQG members are invited to attend.
Take the bus and leave the driving to us!
Why Colors work together and a fail-proof method to choose colors to make your quilt one that you love! Dot will bring examples of quilts and quilt tops that prove the theories work.
All AAQG members are invited to attend.
This lecture and slide presentation deals with scrap quilts. Emphasis is placed on the importance of color, value and texture. The slides are followed by a show and tell of some of Lyn's scrap quilts and a question and answer period.
This is a slide presentation of all those handy little tricks Lyn picked up over the years of teaching. Many of these hints are ones that you will never find in your quilt books. This is Lyn's most popular lecture.
**Due to allergies, Lyn Mann requests that everyone refrain from wearing perfume to the workshop. Thank you!

In this class, students will each bring squares of an ugly (or hard to use) fabric to share. They will also bring a variety of scraps. We will construct a simple scrap quilt while learning how to make any fabric great, depending on what you put with it. A really fun day!!! Many say this is the best class they ever had.

All AAQG members are invited to attend.
(Day 1 of 2) This workshop will show you how easy it is to make this stunning quilt! Day 1 covers the many design options for this pattern, preparation for foundation piecing and foundation piecing. Day 2 covers curved seam piecing, assembly, and machine appliqué. Each quarter of the quilt takes about a day to assemble. The appliqué and final assembly take about two days more and you have a really special quilt top!

This slide lecture and trunk show examines the multifaceted designs of the fabulous marble floors of Italy. It can be easy to "miss" what's under our feet, but not in the case of the fabulous marble floors of Italy-which lend themselves to stunning patchwork. This slide lecture and trunk show is based on my book, published in Fall 2005 by C&T, which examines these multifaceted designs and, using simple techniques, puts them within reach of most quilters. These floors inspire a new approach to sampler quilts that allows secondary patterns to be explored. The distinctive bands lend themselves to use in appliqué quilts as well. The possibilities are endless.
All AAQG members are invited to attend.
Learn to applique bugs with small parts. Transform the bugs into kaleidoscope designs and add embroidery for enhancement. Students will be supplied with a choice of bug patterns for use in class. Every skill level.
YES, it is possible to quilt without a frame or a hoop! And wonderful results can be obtained, often with smaller stitches by using my quilting method. The class will include preparing the quilt for quilting, discussion of battings, demonstrations, and hands-on experience. This particular method is much less stressful on joints and allows more comfortable sitting positions. The class is suitable for beginners as well as for hand quilters who would like to learn a new way to quilt.
Have you ever wondered how to applique a multi-pieced pattern without marking the background or using transparent overlays? This wacky bird will come together perfectly and without effort using the take-away applique method. Every skill level.
The slide lecture is titled "The Evolution of a Quiltmaker", which includes slides of quilts that I have made from the first pathetic attempt to my most recent prize winning quilts. For the quilts that have won awards, I show slides of the design inspirations (such as the lamppost in front of the St. Louis Art Museum, mosaic floor tiles from St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice, a l5th century Italian manuscript, pages out of library books, and embroidery motifs).

A vital part of the slide presentation includes the comments and critiques, both positive and negative, that I have received from contest judges for the award winning quilts. It is often encouraging for other quilters to hear that a quilt can win a top prize in a competition and still receive negative comments! Viewers can look at the slides of the quilts and decide if they agree with the positive and negative comments made by the judges.

A class for those quilters ready to combine quilting patterns in the same project, as well as for those who want to develop their own unique style of quilting. Learn how to take a block, add backgrounds, turn borders, miter corners, and change overall pattern sizes before you start quilting!. Discover proper scale and proportion techniques while selecting the appropriate patterns for patchwork, appliqué, or wholecloth quilts. Perfect for longarm, shortarm, traditional machine and hand quilters alike.
Do you have a pile of “unfinished objects” waiting for a final decision on the quilting design? This is a must take workshop for all quiltmakers who hesitate before they “quilt as desired”. Discover what types of quilting patterns are appropriate for patchwork and for applique tops. Learn how easy it is to make any quilting pattern fit your quilt. Good work habits and easier design steps for creating your own quilting patterns will also be discussed.
A lecture and demonstration for all levels of quiltmaking that helps explain the quilting decision: design and pattern choices, methods of marking, how-to quilt in flowing lines, etc. Real quilts (not slides) are analyzed for a better understanding of what works in quilting patterns… as well as what does not work.
All AAQG members are invited to attend.

In this EQ6 introduction, learn to use the block library, set blocks into quilt layouts, add borders, color blocks on the quilt, and print patterns. This is a computer hands-on class. Students must be familiar with using their own laptops. There will be no instruction or tech support for the use of laptops/computers.
There are hundreds of quilt layouts in the Layout Library in EQ6. Let's explore how to use them! This class will cover how to take your selected blocks and set them into quilts of predetermined sizes, of special layouts, and of your customized grid layouts. You will learn to use Layer 2 for setting appliqué overlays on the quilt and Layer 3 for setting quilting stencils. You will also learn to use the Auto Borders feature in EQ6.
In this multi-media lecture (with PowerPoint and a trunk show of real quilts), Barb leads an exploration of the use of borders to give a quilt a finishing touch. From single to multiple border quilts, learn to respect the difference the extra effort makes. Get inspired to make an eye-catching quilt by adding a striking border ... or two or three.
Watch Barb demonstrate the “magic” of designing a quilt with computer software. You don’t have to have any computer experience to be awed by the ease of creating designs that you probably wouldn’t draft on paper! Barb has become a practiced expert in using EQ6. She will bring her computer and a video projector to demonstrate how she creates quilts that go beyond the ordinary. Barb will also bring a trunk show of quilts she has made from designs she created with EQ software.

Disclaimer: Barb is not a sales representative for Electric Quilt, though she has written three books for The Electric Quilt Company and demonstrates as well as teaches for them at national conferences.

All AAQG members are invited to attend.
This class is about learning to think about and use large scale prints in new ways. We’ll be pushing ourselves to “unlearn” what we know about contrast and learn to choose fabrics that will work hard for us to make simple pieced designs look gloriously complex. Inspiration is taken from quilts of the early 1800s.
TEXT: Blended Quilts by Marsha McCloskey and Sharon Yenter or Blended Quilts II by Marsha McCloskey (In the Beginning). (Some copies will be available in class for $29.95. It is not necessary to have the book to complete the workshop.)
Learn to draft, rotary cut and machine piece this wonderful 15” Radiant Star Feathered Star block. Make it in red and green, if you like, and use it as a holiday banner, in a table runner or quilt. We will use the bias-strip piecing method to piece the small triangles.
TEXTS: Feathered Star Quilt Blocks I and Quick Classic Quilts by Marsha McCloskey. (Some copies will be available in class. It is not necessary to have the books to complete the workshop.)
Quilt Design 101. Marsha McCloskey has about 30 years of quilting experience to share with you, so come ready to learn and be inspired. See a lot of her quilts as she shares the “whys and wherefores” of her color and design choices.

Cathy and John sing songs, tell stories about quilting throughout the world and Cathy shows some of her own quilts. The program has had rave reviews from well over 450 quilting events, and they are being invited back for repeat performances.
