Hobo Bag - Ceil Hart

A soft and loosely structured tote bag.  No quilting involved; just simple sewing.  Makes a great bag for shop-hop buying or carrying projects to class or meetings.


Supply List:

  • Sewing Machine, extra needles, special feet:_straight; zigzag is helpful_______
  • Basic Supplies: Scissors, seam ripper, thimble, note paper, pencil, thread
  • Cutting mat (medium size) , rotary cutter, ruler
  • Other items:  (Please list) :     fabric pre-cut to specified sizes; 5/8” or ¾” elastic; very large safety pin for turning handles and pulling batting; batting scraps of designated sizes
  • Given are measurements for 3 different size options:

    Extra Large 

    Outer fabric  1-1/2 yd   

    Lining fabric   1-1/2 yd     

    5/8” or ¾” elastic 20”                                      Medium

    Outer fabric 1 yd

    Lining fabric 1 yd

    5/8" or 3/4" elastic 14"

    Small

  • Outer fabric 3/4 yd

  • Lining fabric 3/4 yd

  • 5/8" or 3/4" elastic 10"

  • Thread to coordinate with fabrics

  •  Batting for all sizes: 2 pieces, each cut to 6” wide by width of bag fabric (approx. 40 -45”)

  • VERY large safety pin (to pull batting through handles, then handles through casings

  • OPTIONAL:  narrow ribbon if you want to add tie closures
